The Debate

What s the right age to send ur child to school?
My mom- “ u all went to school at the age of 4”So…whats is the hurry? My grandson is only 2 yrs and 2 months”

I hesitantly agree.

My hubby” These days children are sent to play school at the age of 2 “He would enjoy playing with his classmates”

So, I consult my Paed…She says don’t send him before he is atleast 2 ½, he would pick up only infection (incl swine flu) more than the alphabets…”Very right.

So I have a scientific basis for not sending him to school just now.

As the debate rages on at home, the newspapers are agog with Vijayadasami admissions to preschool, play school and play homes.. the nomenclature are new and confusing .My hubby registers for a school thru online (paying Rs1800)

I promptly get a call from the school ‘Maam, you should come for interview with the 3 copies of passport size photos of the child, birth certificate and cheque for payment of
Rs 24,000. Now, I think…why so soon?...I did not go to the interview.
Later the interview was rescheduled twice yet I did not go. I am not paranoid.

I am consulting friends who have been thru this. Now, Vijayadasami too has come and gone. Thank God…
But my hubby is annoyed that I did not go for the interview…that now puts me on the guilt track. So I have started enquiring about the school admission for the coming academic year…

Pranav”s Perceptions

The other day as we drove, there were some fire crackers on the way ..so we told Pranav pattasu in Tamil (meaning fire crackers)…he immediately …repeated patasu”patasu”…

While returning as it was cloudy, there was lightening and thunder….Pranav says “patasu. .patasu”…we were amazed…

He loves to watch rhymes VCD , there is one on animals…It has a song on Lion…and there is a picture of lion eating a bone. .…he says…”ice cream’ ice cream”as if Lion is enjoying ice cream…
I was imagining a lion tasting ice cream”…how novel the thought is.

And yesterday night…we were showing him the grapes…before we could utter any thing ,he said “balloon ..balloon”. How small a balloon can get.

How simple his life is now….less information lesser assumptions

I m back..

The work both on professional (as explained in my previous post) and personal front (as my husband was away on an official trip, I had to do all the errands ) is too demanding on my energies and time.
I had lot to blog about ...felt guilty too for not updating too yet no time.
Thought I will post about what I have been up to.. so here goes...
Besides this heavy routine, I was associated with one of the coaching institutes in the city for Civil Services Exams for conducting mock interviews on the weekends.
It was heartening to see the young girls from rural Tamilnadu aspiring and clearing the exams. I am of the strong view if a girl gets educated or succeeds , she motivates the entire village.
My son Pranav turned 2 recently...had a small celebration and the highlight was the return gifts. We gave the little ones saplings for them to nurture it.
Even the parents were happy to take it home.

Face book networking helped to rediscover my lost friends. Got connected to some almost after 12 years.
It is always nice to get back to friends.
Thanks Vignesh and Cm-chap for bringing back to my blog...

Jai Ho! ............... Inspiring 2009

New Year has come with lots of responsibilities to me.

Yes, “change has come to my office” ( to steal a line from Obama’s Famous “change has come to America”).

I have been made to shoulder additional responsibilities as my immediate boss has been posted out and his post is expected to remain vacant for some months to come.Sigh!
So, I will get more work but same pay.
So the delay in the post.

BARACK OBAMA for everything about him for the World as a whole and
Our own A R REHMAN for India for oscar nominations making history… including Yuki Bambri for Aus Open (Junior title) and Sania/Mahesh for mixed doubles title at Aus Open …

what an inspiring start for the year.

I would post tits bits of what I ve been up to all these days in reverse chronological order here....

Sangamam - the folk festival from 10 th Jan to 17 th Jan at Chennai was a treat to all five senses.

The food-from Thirunelveli halwa to Virughunagar biriyani,
folk arts from karakattam to silambattam,
music- both classical and folk- from Kanyakumari’s violin to Nadhaswaram brought all aesthetic flavours of Tamilnadu” s rich culture coinciding with Pongal celebration at our doorstep.
We watched the events at
Natesan Park,T.Nagar and Besant Nagar Beach.

Dec 28th 2008 Sunday Evening

We went hunting for a park (paucity of open spaces?) for Pranav to play. We reached a park in South Chennai.

My little son would run amuck on the pathway non- stop making me and my hubby run after him. Then, he stopped after spotting a cute little girl who was with her care takers.
As Pranav tried to touch her, she moved a little with a strange expression on her face.
Unmindful of her, again he started his sprint and ran .Then fell down …now ...with bruises all over on his knees.

Now, we thought enough is enough ..our running and his falling. So we decided to leave, went to the parking lot. K had to wait as a bigger four wheeler was coming in .An audi.

K said with sudden surprise on his face,” hey "it is Him “it is him”' in a hurry, not getting the right name or word

I asked “who...? Then I walked ahead to check “ Him.”

My eyes went wide ...yes, a celebrity driving his car....the star SURYA.
My God !
It was Surya for real in white T.
I just could not believe. No one noticed.
I was near his car. He saw me and I waved out with a big GRIN. He acknowledged my wave. What else do I want.

I felt like really shouting and told K why don”t we take a pic. ( Luckily we were carrying a camera, but K prevailed over me).K promptly said we should respect their privacy. Don”t do all that...not even an autograph.

How do I let this moment go unregistered ..I am his big fan . So, I am posting it here.

As I was thinking all this, I noticed that the cute little girl Pranav was trying to woo inside the park was carried and transported to the car.... Of course to her mom Jyothika. Now K could not spot Jo properly much to his disappointment.

Thanks to my hubby (or else I would have leaked the info that the two stars
were here ) The park had a lot of people and I am sure most of them are their fans, there would have been total chaos .

And thus Surya had picked up his daughter Diya and left.

and thus life's little surprises come unexpectedly.
